Security System

I was thinking about one of these just inside the front door to ward off intruders.

These sconces

kitchen with large wooden island

maybe not quite this blue, but everything else is pretty close. Love the painted floor again, just not sure I could bring myself to do it to wood. But it's so gorgeous!! Dark walnut island, light (probably not marble) countertops, blue perimeter, clean whitewashed wood plank walls, and something lovely and lit above the island.

the laundry from the Green Home is fabulous!!! Brilliant "built-in" washer-dryer. Why has no one done this before???!

White kitchen

So, I was originally thinking of raising the ceiling in my kitchen/dining all the way to make it cathedral (although chapel is a little more appropriate). Then I ran across this pic which is basically just raising the ceiling to above the collar ties and painting it all and I think it gives a nice architectural look without the expense. Plus leaves lots of attic-y crawl space for insulation. Hmmm . . .

bathroom with half wall

I think this is a pretty cute shower stall idea. Just not sure about the framing of such an item . . .

Martha, Martha

Gorgeous bedroom colors!

How adorable is the plaid rug, and especially the tiny little upholstered chair!

Love her or hate her, you can't deny she has great taste . . . although I did come across a bathroom pic on her site which featured a very pink tiled shower . . . .

Not exactly house-y . . .

You can't tell me these aren't the cutest buttons in the world!!!
Hand block printed fabric covered buttons, hand-sewn to their cards like someone cares about them!!!

Also, check out the hand-blocked fabric at http://www.homesweetbyhand.com/

I'm sooooo trying block printing soon . . .

So, should we do every bathroom Tiffany blue?

bathroom

As a woman, and a firm believer in all things Tiffany, while still understanding that the color of Tiffany is probably about as close as I'm likely to come in this life, I find this bathroom incredible!

bathroom

Love the french pocket door to the W.C.!!

bathroom

Not into the buddha, but, BUT! the swirly towel, the uh-maz-ing! clawfoot tub painted tiffany blue, the ottoman, the sweet chandelier (yes, Mike, I know: never above the bathtub), even the charming cafe curtains. Well, no, the print on the cafe curtains. Never cafe curtains. Never.

And just to show that this is a brilliant idea, even my heroine, Sarah, agrees with me!

I know it's not quite Tiffany, but close enough to prove my point!

More bedrooms . . .

Bedroom_elle decor

Dreamy Bedroom Inspiration

Love the colors and airy feel of this!

I think this is too, too much, but charming nonetheless. Stick a teddy on a bed and you can't go wrong!

the soft, furry colors in this room look so content and comfortable. also, i think my natural cherry furniture would look great in this room.

Island life

Love, love, LOVE the dark walnut panels of this island.

The antique-y blue of this is gorgeous and slightly unexpected in a kitchen

And this deserves to be shown for it's fabulous contrast of colors, textures and styles. Love the elegant cabinetry juxtaposed with the rustic beams and lighting

TTN: the layout/islands. No overhang, yet the owner says she uses them all the time for eating/serving.

The Project

I consider myself officially grown up. We've bought a house. That pretty much does it. College didn't count, first real job, getting married, having a child, having two more children, having a fourth child . . . none of that was official.
BUT! Buying a house, well, that's it. The end of all things adolescent or childish or youthful.
And I am in no means upset or depressed about it! Rather, I'm soooooo excited to be finally fully grown up!

That being said, I need an all-in-one spot to collect all of my thoughts and ideas for how to make this new home totally mine and my family's. This seemed an obvious and easy way to do it. So, onward!
Here are my ideas for today:

TTN: storage! excellent.

TTN: there is absolutely nothing that I don't LOVE in this bedroom!
the painted floor, the dresser, the door, the beds, the mirror, the other door, the beadboard, and the linens. The lamp and the little pitcher! Fabulous!!

SOOOOO doing this in my boys bathroom! Love the horse trough tub and the price!!
